Why I Created This Site

I want to share my creative writing and visual art with you today!

I am a writer of novels, poetry, short stories, memoirs, children’s books, blogs and non-fiction articles.

I also paint with acrylics and watercolors, sew, decoupage, make collages and create murals.

I am fortunate enough to have the requisite free time from a somewhat busy life of raising my daughter and growing in a marriage to work in my art room/writing office on a nearly daily basis on my growing body of work.

I published a short novel, “Leaves Subsiding (2010)” and I am currently promoting “Mental (2018).”

I was diagnosed with Bipolar I Disorder twenty years ago while living in Austin, Texas after graduating early and with honors from The University of Texas and working for two years as a high school English teacher.

Today, I am a 41 year old married mother of one living in a little arty town just northwest of Houston, TX, freed from the added stress of continuing my ten year career as a teacher by my husband’s income and my Disability check to have the opportunity to live like a real artist and create almost any time I have the inclination.

I am a very fortunate woman who is in the process of attaining mental stability for the first time in twenty years through treatments called TMS–Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation–on both sides of my brain. I am currently a little more than halfway through my six weeks of daily treatment, and already I am able to feel clear-headed, freed mostly from the extreme mood swings of my condition, to more fully love and cultivate my family life, feel freer to create, and have some peace of mind.

You can follow my journey by reading the real, raw and honest two-year journal which recounts some of my past five year nervous breakdown and road to recovery at http://www.BipolarLifer.com, where you can also find more of my bohemian folk art, fictional word art and also some of the humorous bipolar jokes I have collected from Pinterest to lighten the load of those like me who live in a Bipolar state of mind.

I hope you enjoy this body of writing and art and will share your opinion of it with my growing audience.

I look forward to your responses!

❤️❤️❤️, Marie K Johnston
